VSH stands for Varroa Sensitive Hygiene — a genetic trait bred into certain honey bee queens that helps their colony detect and remove mite-infested brood before the mites can reproduce and spread. Colonies headed by VSH queens are naturally more resistant to Varroa mites, one of the biggest threats to honey bee health today, which means less reliance on chemical treatments and a stronger, more self-sufficient hive.
